Welcome to Sherando Community Church Church

Our Story

Nestled in the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, our church has stood as a beacon of faith and fellowship for well over a century. Founded in 1884 as Sherando Methodist Episcopal Church, we have been blessed with a long and meaningful history of worship, community, and service. For the past 72 years, we were known as Sherando United Methodist Church. In 2024, after much prayer and discernment, we made the decision to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church.

At Sherando, we are first and foremost a Bible-preaching, Jesus-loving, nondenominational church. We believe that God’s Word is living and active, and we seek to share the hope of Christ in both word and deed. Our doors are open to anyone seeking a place to belong, and our fellowship is filled with warm, caring people who will make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.

We may be a small mountain church, but our love for God and for people is anything but small. Whether you are looking for a place to worship, a family of believers to walk alongside you, or simply a welcoming spot to rest your soul, we invite you to come and be part of what God is doing here at Sherando.

At Sherando Community Church, we believe in the Holy Trinity, the divinity of Jesus Christ, and the authority of the Bible. We also believe in the power of prayer and the importance of living out our faith in our daily lives.

Our Community

Sherando Community Church is an active rural church in a small community. We want you to know that we embrace people who visit or join with us. We support each other in our gladness and in our sorrow as brothers and sisters in Christ. We are committed to continuing the discipleship journey together and being used by God to make new disciples of the Lord in our homes, schools, and workplaces.
